Beltane and the Full Moon in Scorpio

Beltane is May 1 this year, and it’s a time of fertility and growth. This is a time of fire, taking new steps, and taking action. This one actually aligns with a full moon in Scorpio, so it will be a time of deep reflection and a time to dig into those feelings. Let's talk about how to celebrate.
The Modern Rhythm
Our modern lives, depending on your job, where you live, what your lifestyle is, can be completely opposite of the natural rhythm of the world. To follow the earth's schedule, we would slow down in the fall, get quiet and hibernate during the winter, plant new seeds in the spring, and work hard and harvest in summer and fall.
But I live in Florida, so I find myself in the opposite rhythm.
The fall is when I am busy, always moving. My work starts to get busy again as people return to the south to escape the northern winter. My family starts to emerge from the crispy air conditioned buildings we hid in all summer, and we start to celebrate. We bake, we gift, we decorate, we gather, we scramble to find care for our little ones while the preschool is closed... It’s not a time of rest. And my life only gets busier until things finally slow down in May.
So instead of planting and sowing and working like my ancestors would have in May, I find myself going into a gentle hibernation. More like burnout-exhaustion, but tomato tomato.

Beltane's Call
But that’s not what Beltane calls us to do, that’s not what nature calls us to do.
I often lie awake in the middle of the night for an hour or two. In a kind of twilight, sometimes ruminating on my own mistakes or others’, sometimes just enjoying that silence that my ancestors would have known. My daily life requires me to sleep, but my body knows the path. My season are opposite of my nature, but my body longs for rest. I push off nature, I push off the exhaustion, I force myself to adhere to my own schedule.

Watering Seeds
I have accepted that May is my time to slow down physically, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to slow down spiritually. The seeds that were planted at Ostara now need to be watered. This isn’t the time to enjoy hard work, but to take the next steps on projects and goals already begun.
Here are some things you can do to connect yourself to this moon and this season:
Journal about the goals you made earlier in the year and where you are now. Have you made progress? Have you identified next steps? Are you ready to keep going?
Take time to work with deities like Aphrodite, Artemis, or Apollo and to recognize the magic in yourself and in others. Beltane is a time of fire and celebration - light a candle and remind yourself of the good in your life and the good to come.
This is a time of creativity and prosperity. Have a sweet little treat (for me, it's usually a new pair of earrings haha). Take some time to be creative. Even better, find ways to be creative with your friends or family, have a craft night!
Dig into some deep feelings. Have a glass of wine by firelight and talk to a loved ones. Don't shy away from the emotions the Scorpio moon will bring.
This is a great time to work with sapphires, emeralds, honey, and oats. Maybe try a honey oat recipe or make my favorite easy recipe: greek yogurt topped with oats/granola, fruit, and honey.
Maybe my work schedule is opposite of the earth, but as I’m busy absorbed by my work, maybe my inner world takes a slow breath out, then as my work slows, it gives my inner world the chance to take a deep breath in.
Let's celebrate all the good coming our way, growing and sprouting in all areas of life. Let me know what you're doing to celebrate Beltane today!
Happy Beltane!
