When James, a lovable polar bear, takes a wrong turn around the moon, he must venture through outer space to find his way back home. It takes an android, an alien sea monster, and a lot of purple kitties for him to realize how small he really is and how important home can be.

I worked with pen and ink for most of my twenties (that's my happy place), but I slowly expanded over the years with watercolor, acrylic, oils, and now finally gouache. I've wanted to create cute, fun pieces of art for a long time, and I've finally put together a little portfolio. More artwork coming soon!

I have a very active library card.

I started out as a music and art teacher and eventually turned librarian. I love to read to my young children every night, and my work is guided by what they love to read: snappy, rhythmic stories with silly characters and straightforward writing. Over the years as a teacher, librarian, and now a mom, I have developed some very strong opinions about picture books.

I can tell which books will bore my kids, which paragraphs I need to skip over, and which ones have too overstimulating illustrations. I can tell which stories lack a story and which ones will bore my kids into running off. And, of course, there will always be gaps in the market for certain stories. I think we are lacking children's books for toddlers that are between board books and picture books, and that's where I love to write.

Fun, captivating adventure stories about cute characters (ideally with some rhyming involved) with just enough text to get the story across.
